Introducing: The Gentlemen of Pinnacle Diamond Ranch
The geldings who live here at the ranch are wonderful. Like the mares, they come in all shapes and sizes from stocky barrel-chested Kid to 18.2 hand Belgian Samson. (For those of you who don’t know “hands” that’s how horses are measured. 1 hand = 4 inches. So Samson is 18 X 4 + 2 = 74” that’s 6’ 2” at the shoulder!)
We have 8 geldings here:
Roamin’ is a 20+ year-old chestnut who is a lot of horse on the trail and in the ring, where he has gallons of personality. He’s a wonderful western adventurer who listens really well and can always make us laugh at his antics in the field.
Toby is a stunning 14-year-old light bay with a black mane and tail who has the energy and attitude of a toddler. His wonderful gaits and fun-loving nature have endeared him to us in record time. Toby is a great horse in the ring, but he’s for our more advanced riders on the trail.
Yankee is a big bay gelding who came to us from the Unadilla Auction. An 11-year-old Thoroughbred, Yankee has a lot of speed and energy... we are actually in the process of finding Yankee a new home with someone who can handle his occasional need for speed! His manners on the ground and behavior under saddle, make him a great intermediate or advanced lesson horse.
Jazz is the 5-year-old son of the famous racehorse Gone West and the million-dollar mare Confidently. Jazz belongs to Barn Manager & Horsemanship Teacher Ellen P. and is only ridden by Ellen on trails and in the ring. Jazz is a sweet guy who just might earn himself a spot taking care of our HorseCampers some time - he’s already great at giving pony rides to the little ones!

Cimmaron is an 11-year-old Appendix gelding that came to Camp from a rescue. Camp Director Pastor Chris Gerardi’s daughter Abbie is Cimmy’s favorite human, and she’s the only one who rides him on trails or in the ring.
Samson came to us as named “Tiny”, but we felt that “Samson” fit this stunning 15-year-old Belgian far better. Samson belongs to Pinnacle volunteer Mike P., but he is used for lessons and trail rides... some of the cutest retreat photographs we have are of little bitty kids on Sam’s back for pony rides! Sam rides and drives.
Levi (short for Leviathan) is a 4-year-old Belgian who will be driving with Samson soon... we hope! Levi is a very powerful horse who needs a lot of training before he would be as safe as Samson. Believe it or not, he is actually 2 inches taller than Samson at the withers, tanding a full 19 hands tall.
.Mississippi is a 1993 QH/Paint cross gelding that came to us from our friend Kristoff. He was used as a 4H and lesson horse in the Lake George area, so he is a strong, patient, well-mannered trail horse |
