Introducing: The Ladies of Pinnacle Diamond Ranch
The mares who live here at the ranch are wonderful. They come in all shapes and sizes from rock-solid Standardbred Ritzie to tall graceful Thoroughbred Dixie. We have 6 mares at camp:
Filly is a lovely chestnut mare that was given to us when her beloved pasture-mate died during the winter of ‘07 and her owner knew she wouldn’t be happy all by herself. Although getting up there in age, Filly has a sparkle all her own and will take great care of our riders this summer in the ring and all year round on the trails!
Dixie is a 2002 Thoroughbred mare that used to be a racehorse in Saratoga. Camp Pinnacle’s Director, Pastor Chris Gerardi adopted Dixie from a rescue in the Spring of 2006. Dixie is Pastor Chris’s personal horse and he is definitely her favorite human!
Becky is a beautiful big mare who is a real sweetheart. She is on loan to Barn Manager Ellen Preckel for a couple of years - or at least until her owners’ kiddos grow up enough to reach their stirrups! Becky’s disposition makes her worth her weight in gold and she is the biggest lovebug we have ever met.
Beauty is a 1987 Morgan mare that was brought to Camp by our “animal enthusiast”, Kristof Miller. Beauty is a lovely mare, dark, sleek and shiny. She is a lot of horse, she’s fast and doesn’t particularly like to walk! Beauty is definitely the dominant mare in our field - she knows what you are looking for and tries to give it you.
Sophie is a lovely flea-bitten gray mare that was given to Camp in the summer of 2008. Sophie and her best friend M’Abu (the little white Welsh Pony on the gelding page) are virtually inseparable. They are wonderful lesson and trail horses and we are so thankful that their owner chose to have them with us when they needed a new place to be.
Ember is a 2004 Thoroughbred mare that was given to us... once again through Becky’s family! Ember is a sweetheart, but she wasn’t fast enough for the track and couldn’t be used as a broodmare, so we were blessed to have her given to us. Casey is her favorite human.
